Louisa Hughes, a third-year centre midfield from Fredericton, NB, is the STU Coastal Graphics Athlete of the Month for October.

Hughes has been a presence for the Tommies women's soccer team all season and was a key contributor to the squad's success, which led to the program's first Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association championship in 17 years.

"Louisa's movement off the ball and her distribution is a key component of our offense," Tommies head coach Michelle DeCourcey said.

"She plays hard, tackles tough, and does it all with a smile on her face."

Hughes served as the Tommies captain during the ACAA playoffs and set the tone for the young team with her passion and perseverance. She was also recognized as a first team all-conference player at the ACAA Soccer Championship awards banquet.
