Tommies This Week: February 7-13

Friday, February 8th

Women’s Hockey @ StFX 7:00pm

The Tommies have clinched first overall in the AUS standings and will have home ice advantage throughout playoffs. The X Women, however, are still fighting for the first round bye as they hold a two point advantage on the SMU Huskies. The Tommies have won two of the first three matchups between these rivals so far this season.

Saturday, February 9th

Women’s Hockey @ DAL 4:30pm

The final game of the regular season for the Tommies has them in Halifax to face the Dalhousie University Tigers. Dalhousie still has a chance to make the playoffs as they trail UdeM by one point for the final playoff spot, and it could potentially come down to this game to see who gets into the playoffs as the #6 seed.

Men’s Volleyball @ HC 7:00pm

The Hurricanes recently dealt the Tommies their second loss of the season in a 3-2 thriller at The Pit. The Tommies will head to Charlottetown looking to repay the favour. Last year’s ACAA Player of the Year, Brett Butler, is having another great year for the Hurricanes, as he finds himself leading the league in kills.

Men’s and Women’s Track @ Saint Mary’s University Athletics AUS Indoor Championships

The Tommies are hot off a weekend full of medals, season bests, personal bests and a STU club record and will look to carry that momentum into the final competition before AUS Championships.

Sunday, February 10th

Men’s Volleyball @ HC 12:00pm

The back end of the weekend in Charlottetown has the Tommies facing the Hurricanes for the third time in four matches. The Tommies are currently in first in the ACAA, while the Hurricanes are in third.

Women’s Volleyball @ DAL AC 1:00pm

These two teams faced off back on February 2nd with the Tommies getting the 3-1 victory. There is a bit of a log jam in the ACAA standings as three teams ahead of the Tommies are tied with 22 points, while the Tommies have 18. A victory against the Rams would inch them closer to a higher playoff seed.

Wednesday, February 13th

Women’s Basketball vs UNBSJ 6:00pm @ LB Gym *Grad Game & Think Pink*

The Tommies will have had over a week off from ACAA competition and this will mark the final home game for them, before finishing the season with three games on the road. STU is 2-0 versus the Seawolves so far this season, with an average margin of victory of 20 points.

Men’s Basketball vs UNBSJ 8:00pm @ LB Gym *Grad Game & Think Pink*

The Tommies are currently tied with the Seawolves (as of Wednesday, February 6th) for the 5th seed in the ACAA playoffs. The UKC Blue Devils sit two points behind. The playoff picture will be a lot clearer following this game.
