Tommies Shut Out Chargers 6-0

MONCTON, NB - The final home game for the Crandall Chargers was not the farewell they hoped to give their fans as the STU Tommies ran away with the match 6-0.

The Tommies took charge of the match right from the kickoff, as Ryan MacKinnon opened up the scoring in the 5th minute of play. MacKinnon would go on to score a hat-trick with all three of his goals coming in the opening half.

Down by Three at the half, a short bench and having multiple players leaving due to injury was a hole too deep for the Chargers to dig their way out of.

The defensive play of STU limited Crandall to only four shots on the night, none of which made it to the Goalkeeper, Liam McCann who kept his clean sheet. The Tommies have yet to allow a goal to be scored on them since week one and boast a league-leading +23 in scoring differential.

Lucas Joel, Chidubem Nkoloagu and William Benoit each scored for STU in the second half at 52, 57 and 80 minutes, respectively. William Benoit was issued a yellow card in the 67th minute of play for a mid-air collision with  Chargers Goalkeeper, Noah Miller.

Crandall will end their season on the road with their next matchup being against UNBSJ, Saturday, Oct. 15th followed by a trip to Holland College to wrap up the campaign. The last time the Chargers and Seawolves met UNBSJ came away with a 2-1 victory.
