ACAA men’s soccer

The UNBSJ Seawolves hosted the St. Thomas Tommies in ACAA men's soccer action Sunday, Sept.19 at the Canada Games Stadium in Saint John.

The Tommies Brett Springer scored on a penalty shot 8 minutes into the game. That set the stage for an entertaining game featuring lots of shots and open-ended play as the Seawolves pushed forward to tie. The Tommies were up to the test defensively and nursed the one goal lead into the second half while doing their own share of attacking. The Seawolves came close to tying the game with 10 minutes left when Nick Ellingwood chipped the ball past keeper Luke Ewen who had come out to challenge but Josh Oakes saved the day with a spectacular goal line clearance to preserve the lead and the win. The Tommies won the game 1-0.

The Tommies improved to 2-0-1 while the Seawolves stand at 2-2-0.

The next game for both teams is Saturday, Sept. 25. The Tommies play at University of King's College Blue Devils at 1:00pm and the Seawolves visit the Mount Saint Vincent Mystics at 4:00pm.
