UKC Mounts Comeback to Defeat Tommies 86-81

The University of King's College Blue Devils used a strong second half to drive past the St. Thomas University Tommies 86-81.

Campbell Colpitts scored 23 of his game high 27 points in the second half to lead the Blue Devils. Arthur Reece (Houston, TX) finished with 24 for the Tommies.

The Tommies were missing their top two scorers, plus another regular starter, but that didn't stop them from jumping out to a 23-15 lead after the first quarter, and a 39-26 halftime edge.  With a short bench for the game the Tommies got great minutes from rookie Cameron Miller (Quispamsis, NB), who scored his first 5 points of his ACAA career, and second year forward Jordan Underhill (Blackville, NB).

With under 5 minutes to play and the Tommies trailing 71-70, it was Miller hitting a corner three to give the Tommies the lead. That possession was followed up with veteran Justin Grant (Winnipeg, MB) taking a charge. The Tommies couldn't, however, as the Blue Devils would go on a 15-8 run to end the game.

The Tommies will host the Crandall Chargers on Sunday, while the Blue Devils head to UNBSJ to play the Seawolves that same day.
