Chargers Need Overtime to Defeat Tommies 102-99

In what can only be described as an instant classic, the Crandall Chargers defeated the St. Thomas University Tommies 102-99 in overtime Sunday night in Fredericton.

Kendall Brown was a one-man scoring machine for the Chargers, as he was hitting shots from everywhere on his way to a game high 46 points, including 12 in overtime. Almin Dervisevic (Ottawa, ON) responded with a team high 24 for the Tommies.

The Tommies held a 48-46 lead at halftime, and a 69-66 lead after three quarters, but the Chargers wouldn't falter, tying the game in the fourth quarter.

The young Tommies showed tremendous resiliency as Brown took over in overtime. Late in the extra period Dervisevic drove to the basket to give the Tommies a 96-95 lead with 49 seconds left. Brown calmly brought the ball up for the Chargers and the 6'5" forward pulled up from 30 feet away and dropped a dagger of a 3-point shot. The Tommies would eventually pull within 1 point, but they ran out of steam.

Next action for STU will be on December 1st when Dal AC visits, and the Chargers will be back in Fredericton on December 2nd for a rematch with the Tommies.
