(Fredericton, NB) It was a familiar setting; Lady Beaverbrook Gym, Crandall Chargers, St. Thomas Tommies, close game in the fourth quarter.

It was a week to the day that saw the Chargers come back and win an overtime thriller in Fredericton over the Tommies, 102-99.

The Tommies entered the fourth quarter of this game ahead 60-53. This time, however, they closed out the game, outscoring the Chargers 22-13 in the final quarter to earn the 82-66 victory, their second in a row.

Arthur Reece III (Houston, TX) paced the Tommies with 16 points, while a trio of Tommies had 15 points: Travis Valanne (Miramichi, NB), Michael Otoo (Ottawa, ON) and Geoffrey Lavoie (Ottawa, ON), the latter adding 13 rebounds for a double-double. Almin Dervisevic also had a double-double with 13 points and a game high 16 rebounds. Robert Pillow (Anchorage, AK) had a game high 25 points to go along with 13 rebounds to lead the Chargers.

"It was a good moral win for the boys, a solid win against a competitive team," said head coach Scott MacLeod. "To hold them to 66 points, there aren't many teams doing that, so we really stepped it up defensively."

This marked the fourth game in a row the Tommies (2-7) held a lead in the fourth quarter, but just the second time they were able to finish the game for a win.

"Our total focus tonight was to have a full game of focus," said MacLeod. "We have been focusing on defense the whole year, but we have been struggling. Tonight we really stepped it up."

Last week it was Kendall Brown (Anchorage, AK) who led the comeback, finishing with a game high 46 points on route to the overtime victory. On Sunday evening the Tommies met Brown with double-teams as soon as he crossed the front court, limiting his chances. He did finish with 17 points on the evening.

The Chargers find themselves tied with Mount Allison at 5-3 in the ACAA standings going into the break, while the Tommies move to 2-7.
