Sheffar Leads Mystics to 83-74 Win Over Tommies

The St. Thomas University Tommies had their mini win streak snapped at the hands of the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics Saturday evening, 83-74.

The Mystics opened up an eight point lead after the first quarter and they wouldn't look back on their way to a nine point win.

Jacob Sheffar (Sackville, NS) led a balanced attack from the Mystics with 15 points off the bench. Rookie Geoffrey Lavoie (Ottawa, ON) had a game high 20 points for the Tommies. Both teams had five players reach double figures, but the bench of the Mystics outscored the Tommies 27-7 on the game.

The Mystics improve to 7-2 on the season, second in the ACAA, while the Tommies fall to 2-8.

The Tommies will host the UKC Blue Devils at 3:00pm on Sunday, while the Mystics head to Saint John to tangle with the Seawolves at 3:00pm.
