Tommies Surge Past Seawolves in 4th Quarter

Fredericton, NB- The St. Thomas University Tommies came back from a 13-point halftime deficit to defeat the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves 86-79.

Led on the offensive end by Geoffrey Lavoie (Ottawa, ON) and Almin Dervisevic (Ottawa, ON), who had 20 and 18 points, respectively, the Tommies rallied to take the lead and hold off a charging Seawolves team in the dying seconds of the game. Hunter Gray (Woodstock, NB) did his best to keep his team in it, scoring 27 points for the Seawolves, 13 coming in the final quarter, but it wasn't enough on this night.

"Saint John is a good team, their record doesn't do them justice. They have a lot of good players over there," said Tommies head coach, John Hickey. "I was happy with how our guys pulled it out in the fourth quarter. A tough, gritty win."

With the win the Tommies jump to 6-3 on the campaign, while the Seawolves fall to 1-7.

Next action for the Seawolves has them in Halifax to face the MSVU Mystics on January 18th, while the Tommies will head to Moncton that same day to face the Crandall Chargers.
