The St. Thomas University Tommies fell 56-19 to the University of New Brunswick Ironmen in men's rugby action Saturday afternoon at Scotiabank Park South.

The Ironmen got off to a hot start when Eric Duplessis and Kyle Patterson scored two tries in three minutes, along with a conversion, to hop out to a 12-0 lead.

Jonathan Ginnish of the Tommies scored a try to narrow the lead, but to no avail as the Ironmen went on a 41-0 run to give them a 53-5 lead through 70 minutes.

The Tommies added a converted try late to close out the match.

Leading for the Tommies in points was Jonathan Ginnish, who had one try and a conversion, while the Ironmen were led by Kyle Patterson, who had one try and three conversions.
