The St. Thomas University Tommies men's soccer team has added its first recruit for the 2018-2019 season.

Nunzio Marceca, a skilled outside back from Winnipeg, MB, has committed to join the STU squad this fall.

"I chose St. Thomas because it offered a soccer program on the rise, as well as academic options and the right learning environment to begin my post-secondary studies," Marceca said.

The future Tommie is a product of the Thunder Bay Chill reserves of the United States Premier Development League. He's competed at the U19 USA cup and trained previously with the Empoli FC U15 team in Italy.

"Nunzio has the type of soccer pedigree we're aiming for here at St. Thomas," Tommies head coach John-Ryan Morrison said. "On top of what he brings on the field, he comes with a strong academic background and is a great guy who will fit in well with the squad." 

Marceca is looking forward to contributing to the Tommies team as it continues to build in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association.

"I will bring a hardworking, attacking and team-first approach to every game," he said. "I'm very excited to be part of the program and aim to take it to the next level."
