STU Men Continue Bounce Back Season with a Win over Dalhousie AC

Fredericton, NB- The St. Thomas University Tommies defeated the Dalhousie Agricultural College Rams 3-0 in ACAA men's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

Kyle Yearwood (Barbados) opened the scoring when he blasted a shot past keeper Bailey Fraser (, giving the Tommies the coveted 1-0 lead.

Tommies head coach, John-Ryan Morrisson, stressed the importance of a good season from Yearwood and where that could lead the team.

"He came in really fit this year and proved he's one of the better players in the league," said Morrisson. "He's the cog that keeps our engine going."

The Tommies generated scoring chances all game long, while holding the Rams to zero shots on goal.

"We created a bunch of chances as we practiced all week," said Morrisson. "We didn't complete as many as we would like, but we're happy with the three points."

The Tommies extended their lead on a mad scramble in front of the net when rookie, Nunzio Marceca (Winnepeg, MB), found the back of the net to give the Tommies a 2-0 lead.

They did not stop there, as Yearwood was hauled down in the 18-yard-box; resulting in a penalty kick, which  he made no mistake on, to give the Tommies a commanding 3-0 cushion.

The Tommies boast the best goal differential in the league with eight goals for and only two against in regular season play.

The Tommies are back in action Sunday afternoon when the Holland College Hurricanes pay a visit to Scotiabank Park South at 3:15pm.
