Springer Scores Again to Lead Tommies Past Mystics

--- Sam Blackmore, BA 2020 ---

(Fredericton, NB) The Mount Saint Vincent Mount Mystics lost to the St. Thomas University Tommies, 1-0 at the Scotiabank Park Field on Saturday afternoon. This is the Tommies second consecutive win.

Both teams had their chances in the first half, but no one managed to score. It wasn't long into the second half that a break led to a goal by Tommies striker Brett Springer (Bamberg, ON). The goal arrived in the 51st minute.

"That might be three or four games in a row with goals for Brett, so great start for his rookie season," said head coach John-Ryan Morrison.

The rest of the second half was aggressively fought by both teams but the Mount Mystics were unable score, leaving them to drive back to Halifax with their second loss of the season.

The Tommies will have a short recovery as they will be playing tomorrow against the University of King's College Blue Devils.

"We'll look after our bodies tonight," said Morrison. "UKC might even be a tougher battle than today was."

The Mystics will be playing their next game tomorrow in Saint John against the Seawolves.
