WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

The UKC Blue Devils finished fifth in the ACAA this season with a record of 7-11. The Tommies won the season series 2-1—they topped UKC 63-50 in November, dropped a 68-61 decision in January, and bested the Blue Devils 69-36 in their last meeting.

The Blue Devils boast two potent scorers in fifth-year guard Candace Reynolds and first-year guard Chloe Oxner. Both pose a serious threat from the three-point line, but are able to create off the dribble as well.

The Tommies counter with Jessica Patenaude in the paint—averaging 13.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game—as well as outside threats Lainy Dow and Bridget Frazee.  The STU squad will rely heavily on its defense, which gives up an average of 60.7 points per game and is ranked third in the conference.

The other conference quarterfinal features the third-place Holland College Hurricanes and the sixth-place UNBSJ Seawolves. The winners of the quarters will advance to the ACAA semifinals on Saturday—the lowest remaining seed will take on the MSVU Mystics and the highest remaining seed will face the MTA Mounties.
