Tommies Top Blue Devils, Advance to ACAA Semifinal

The St. Thomas University Tommies topped the University of King's College Blue Devils 84-73 in the ACAA women's basketball quarterfinal Friday in Truro, NS.

The Blue Devils jumped to an early lead, but the Tommies hung around and closed the gap to 22-20 after 10 minutes. The second frame belonged to the Tommies--they outscored the Blue Devils 27-15 en route to a 47-37 advantage at the break.

It was much of the same in the third with the Tommies holding the Blue Devils to 11 points in the quarter.

UKC came alive in the fourth, much to the credit of strong shooting from Chloe Oxner and Candace Reynolds. Despite their strong push, the Tommies held on to claim their place in the ACAA semifinal.

Bridget Frazee was the Tommies Player of the Game connecting for 18 points off five-for-eight shooting from beyond the arc. Jessica Patenaude chipped in with 15 points and three rebounds, and Jayme Hunt added 12 points in the win.

Jessica Simm was the Blue Devils Player of the Game with 12 points and nine rebounds. Reynolds led UKC with 18 points and Oxner collected 15.
