Tommies' head coach Fred Connors continues to make moves for the Tommies' Women's basketball 2023-24 season, this time adding a hometown recruit in Paige Leblanc, a product of Fredericton High School. Leblanc, a 5'8" guard from New Maryland, has comitted to St. Thomas University and will join a familiar face with the Tommies next season.

"I used to play with Charlee Connors ... Charlee has also talked to me about different courses before and I have been able to ask her any questions I have," Leblanc said. She's also had a chance to practice with the Tommies, saying they've been very welcoming. Leblanc plans on getting her Bachelor of Education degree after her Bachelor of Liberal Arts.

Fred Connors couldn't be more excited about Leblanc's comitment, saying he had seen her play plenty in the past and knows her game well. He mentioned her performace at the annual Rick Cotter classic, where she led the Black Kats to a gold medal and was named a tournament All-Star.

"Paige is a natural scorer with excellent 3 point range. She is a very unselfish player. She defends with intensity and rebounds hard," he said. "We are very excited that Paige has chosen STU for her academic pursuits ...  she is going to excel in and out of the classroom."

Leblanc described her recruitment process as "great," saying Fred made it memorable for her.

"He was very supportive of everything that I was trying to decide and he never put pressure on me," she said. "He is a very patient and kind person and it made the process really enjoyable and exciting."
