SEASON RECAP: Tommies Finish Third in AUS, Fall in Conference Semifinal

The St. Thomas University Tommies had a solid 2017-2018 season in Atlantic University Sport women's hockey, but fell short in the conference semifinals for the second straight year.

The Tommies had a slow start to the season—they dropped their first three games—but bounced back quickly to win nine of their next 11 for a 9-5 record at the break.

The Green and Gold struggled in late January but closed out the regular season with a win, besting the Mount Allison Mounties 3-1. With a 12-8-4 record, the Tommies finished third in the conference and advanced to the best-of-three quarterfinal series against the sixth place UPEI Panthers.

In the playoffs, the Tommies swept UPEI and earned a spot in the conference semifinals where they faced the SMU Huskies. In game one, the Tommies clawed their way back from a 2-0 deficit but couldn't complete the comeback, falling 4-3. The Huskies completed the sweep, edging the Tommies 2-1 in game two of the best-of-three series.

Alexandra Woods was named to the AUS first team all-conference for her strong play in the 2017-2018 campaign and Olivia Reid earned a spot on the conference's all-rookie team.
