Tommies Skate to 8-1 Win Over Panthers in Game Two of AUS Quarterfinal Series

The St. Thomas University Tommies skated to an 8-1 win over the University of Prince Edward Island Panthers in game two of the AUS women's hockey best-of-three quarterfinal series Friday night in Charlottetown. 

With the win, the Tommies advance to the conference semifinal series where they will face the Saint Mary's University Huskies. 

Emily Oleksuk had four points on the night, including the Tommies opening goal 7:32 into the first period.

After holding a slim 1-0 lead after 20 minutes, the Tommies came alive in the second. Lauren Henman and Olivia Reid scored just 42 seconds apart to put STU up 3-1 less than 10 minutes into the frame. Alisha Gilbert capitalized on the power play at 8:41, and Henman and Oleksuk each potted their second of the game to put the Tommies up 6-0 heading into the third. 

Oleksuk completed the hat trick 41 seconds into the final frame, converting on the power play. Maria Clinton got the Panthers on the board at 6:55, beating Tommies netminder Abby Clarke who made 18 saves in the win. 

Stephanie Ford netted the Tommies final goal of the game midway through the third. 

Megan Sullivan took the loss in net for the Panthers, turning away 12 shots in the team's final game of the season.
