Martlets Drop Tommies 2-0

Martlets Drop Tommies 2-0

(Fredericton, N.B)- The STU Tommies lost a tough match to McGill university Saturday afternoon 2-0.

The back and forth play by the two teams excited Tommie fans, but it wasn't enough to stop the eager McGill team from pulling away with a win.

It was second year forward, Stephanie Desjardins (Grand Falls, NB), that created havoc for the Tommies as she finished the game scoring both of McGill's goals.

Desjardins collected her first at the beginning of the second period with 13:10 left to play. A nice play by teammates, Christiana Colizza (Sault Ste. Marie, ON) and Samantha McCluskey (Etobicoke, ON) is what put McGill on the board.

The second goal from Desjardins came at the start of the 3rd from a nice pass by teammates Lauren Bowman (Calgary, AB) and Cassidy Bell (Fort St. John, BC).

Rachelle Champion (Toronto, ON) and Amanda Hadwen (Ottawa, ON) teamed up to stop all 16 shots the Tommies threw their way, while Taylor Cook (Brantford, ON) and Abby Clarke (Springdale, NL) split time in net for the Tommies.

Women's hockey is back in action as the Tommies are on the road to face the Ottawa Gee Gee's, September, 28th, 7pm puck drop.
