The Tommies continue to retool amidst their AUS leading season by adding goaltender Natania King from the Waterloo Rangers of the Provincial Women’s Hockey League in Ontario.

King will join former Tommie Samantha Squires as former Ranger players to suit up in the Green and Gold.

The 6’0” Sudbury, ON native currently holds a 6-0-0 record, with a 0.85 goals against average and a .955 save percentage. The Tommies will be losing two of their three current goaltenders Taylor Cook and Abby Clarke to graduation. Clarke is in the middle of her best season for the Tommies posting a 14-3-0 record, 1.16 goals against average and a .956 save percentage.

“Natania is a big goalie who shows solid mobility and a willingness to improve her game,” said head coach Peter Murphy. “We have had a great tradition of strong goaltending at St. Thomas and we expect Natania to be a big part of that ongoing tradition.  We feel she will be a great fit for our hockey program.”

King chose St. Thomas because of the small-town feel that Fredericton provides, but was also impressed with the quality of the hockey program put forth by Murphy and his staff and players.

“I loved the small campus and family feel of the city of Fredericton,” said King. “The welcoming environment that the Tommies women’s hockey team has is a big part of the reason I was interested in the school. Ultimately I chose St. Thomas because of the amazing hockey program and I look forward to contributing to the teams ongoing success.”
