Byers Lone Goal Puts the Tommies on Top

moncton, NB - Aislynn Byers' power play goal midway through the middle period was all that was needed for the St. Thomas University Tommies (1-0) to register a 1-0 victory over the Université de Moncton Aigles Bleues (0-1) at the J.-Louis-Lévesque Arena on Friday evening in their opening game of the 2021-2022 Atlantic University Sport women's hockey regular season. 

Goalkeeper Caroline Pietroski faced 27 (8-8-11) shots to register the shutout for the visitors in the game that gave quick and interesting play for the spectators. Audrey Berthiaume faced 25 (6-17-2) shots in the loss. The Tommies only took 2 shots in the third period, but 17 in the second. St. Thomas was 1 in 6 on the power play and Moncton, 0 in 4.   

All the players of the Blue and Gold were presented before the match with an official play to launch the season.
