The St. Thomas University Tommies fell to the University of New Brunswick Varsity Reds 27-12 in ACAA women's rugby action Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Park South.

The Varsity Reds struck first, charging through to the end line to get on the board. The conversion was good, giving the Reds a 7-0 lead.

The Tommies narrowed the lead with a try of their own, but the Varsity Reds countered and held a 17-5 advantage after 40 minutes.

The Tommies made a push in the second half and scored a try in the 46 minute but surrendered two unconverted tries to the Varsity Reds, who held on for a 27-12 win.

The Tommies are back in action next Saturday when they visit the Mount Allison Mounties in Sackville. Kickoff is at 2:00pm.
