Tommies Drop Sunday Matchup with the Reds

(Fredericton, NB)- The St. Thomas University Tommies fell 45-12 at the hands of the University of New Brunswick Reds in women's ACAA rugby action Sunday afternoon at Scotiabank Park South.

The Reds opened the scoring in the 12th minute when Taran Price made the game 3-0 on a penalty kick put perfectly between the goal posts.

The Tommies struck back in the 19th minute when Becca Baker forced her way to the end zone giving the Tommies their first lead of the game, 7-3.

The Reds rebounded in a big way, scoring tries in the 27th, 31st, and 38th minutes to regain the lead, 20-7.

Olivia Ricketts responded shortly after in the 40th minute when she powered her way to the end line, bringing the Tommies within eight points of the Reds.

The second half was all Reds, piling five tries in the half en route to a 45-12 rout of the Tommies.

Taran Price led the Reds in scoring, tallying 16 points on the day. Becca Baker and Olivia Ricketts both put up five points with one try each.

The Tommies are back in action this Saturday when they play host to the University of Kings College Blue Devils at 2:00pm at Scotiabank Park South.
