Tommies Defeat Mounties, Will Face UNB For ACAA Championship

The St Thomas University Tommies have punched their ticket to the ACAA Championships with a 32-5 victory over the Mount Allison University Mounties.

It was the Mounties who started the game off strong, as they got into the end zone first to take a 5-0 lead early into the game. It was Georgia Forsyth scoring for MTA.

Olivia Ricketts (Saint John, NB) got the Tommies knotted up shortly after and with the team's tied at 5 with halftime looming Ricketts touched down another after a great run from Megan Pollard (Saint John, NB).

"We needed a momentum boost in the first half, and Olivia getting us on the board was huge," said head coach Meghan Morrison.

It was all Tommies in the second half as they scored 22 unanswered points to walk away with the 32-6 victory. Other tries for the Tommies came from Kristen Bulman (Moncton, NB), Melissa Totten (Truro, NS), Becca Baker (Keswick Ridge, NB) and Emily Donelle (Moncton, NB). Donelle also converted on one of the tries.

The Tommies will now face the UNB Reds in the ACAA finals next weekend, a rematch of the last three ACAA finals.
