Tommies Fight Off Chargers

---- Sean Crocker----

Fredericton, NB-- The St. Thomas University Tommies bested the Crandall University Chargers 2-0 in ACAA women's soccer action Saturday afternoon.

The Tommies got the ball rolling in the ninth minute when Nikita McCartney (Moncton, NB) lofted the ball by Chargers' keeper, Logan Bushey (Miramichi, NB), to give the Tommies a 1-0 lead.

The play was mostly controlled in the Chargers' end with the Tommies sustaining large amounts of pressure throughout the match.

McCartney struck again for the Tommies in the 86th minute when she slid the ball under Bushey to help lift the Tommies to a 2-0 win.

Mary Cronin led the way in net for the Tommies, shutting the door at every opportunity to vault the Tommies over the Chargers.

The Tommies are back in action on October 13th when the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics visit Scotiabank Park South at 2pm, and the Chargers will be in Saint John Sunday to play the Seawolves.
