Decourcey Named Sport NB Coach of the Year

This past weekend, our women’s soccer head coach, Michelle DeCourcey, was named Konica Minolta Female Coach of the Year.

DeCourcey was a finalist for the award, along with Julia Loparco of Saint John (athletics) and Alana Nicklin of Fredericton (ringette).

DeCourcey adds this to her list of accomplishments for this year, as she led the Tommies to an undefeated regular season and was named ACAA Coach of the Year in women’s soccer.

Director of Athletics Michael Eagles couldn’t be happier with having a coach of Michelle’s caliber on staff here at STU.

“Michelle is dedicated, respectful and a fantastic coach,” said Eagles about DeCourcey. “We are very fortunate to have her coaching for us. When you see her and her staff interact with their players it is easy to see the respect that the players have for them.”

Eagles also knows that both soccer programs are in great hands for years to come.

“Any time a coach receives this kind of recognition it is beneficial to the program they are involved in. It gives prospective student-athletes affirmation that they are going to a quality program. Having both soccer coaches, Michelle along with John-Ryan Morrison, win ACAA Soccer Coach of the Year is another example.”
