The 2018-19 Tommies women’s soccer team had an incredible regular season, going 10-0-2 and being ranked #13 in the nation in CCAA’s latest national rankings.

A big part of the success the Tommies had this season was due to great team play and contributions from everyone. However, there were 6 Tommies that stood out this season in the ACAA.

Louisa Hughes (Fredericton, NB), Leandra Upton (Fredericton, NB) and Nikita McCartney (Moncton, NB) were all named 1st Team All-Conference, and Kaleigh Roberts (Moncton, NB), Victoria Muise (Dartmouth, NS), and Jessica McWilliams (Tracadie, NB) were named to the 2nd Team All-Conference.

“I'm thrilled with the team's performance and dedication to reaching their goal of an undefeated regular season,” said head coach Michelle DeCourcey. “This was no small feat and one that could only be achieved with a full team effort day in and day out. All 19 Tommies contributed to the success and I couldn't be happier for this soccer family.”

In her second year of competition for STU, McCartney was named ACAA Player of the Year after leading the league in scoring with 15 goals. McCartney scored in all but two of the games for the Tommies but has been a spark plug for the offense all year.

“Nikita had a truly remarkable season. She scored against every team in the league, despite most having made it their goal to shut her down,” DeCourcey said about McCartney. “Nikita was only fueled by the challenge and excelled under pressure. She is more than deserving of this recognition.”

In her fourth year as head coach, DeCourcey was named ACAA Coach of the Year for her efforts in 2018-19.

The Tommies will begin defending their ACAA Championship Saturday, October 27th against UNBSJ at 12:15pm in Halifax, NS. You can watch live on ACAAtv.ca.
