Tommies Earn Seven Medals at NB Indoor Championships

The St. Thomas University Tommies brought home seven medals from the Athletics New Brunswick Indoor Championships this weekend in Gagetown.

The women's 4x200m relay team of Sarah Hickman, Chelsey Hall, Hannah Clarke, and Brynn Gilmour set another new STU record with a time of 1:53.7 and finished second behind the UNB Varsity Reds.

The Tommies relay team currently sits in fourth place in the Atlantic University Sport conference and will be competing at the SMU Open, February 10 in Halifax.

In the individual events, Grace Baker ran a personal best in the 200m, finishing first in the women 18-19 age class with a time of 30.16.

Clarke and Kelly Brennan finished first and second in the 200m for women 20-24 with personal bests of 29.44 and 31.62, respectively.

Hickman was golden in the 400m for women 20-34, crossing the line in 1:07.03, while Alaina Mejia finished first in the 1500m with a time of 5:52.18.

Clarke ran a 46.52 personal best in the 300m, setting the new STU standard for the event. Brennan also posted a PB, finishing in 50.05. Gilmour and Baker crossed the line at 47.81 and 49.43, respectively.

Hall ran the 600m in 1:47.02, finishing fifth.

Connor Coelho was the lone male Tommie at the event and he posted a personal best in the 800m with a time of 2:17.45.
