The St. Thomas University Tommies women's volleyball team had a successful weekend competing in the first exhibition tournament of the 2017-18 season.
In their first match, the Tommies defeated the Dalhousie Agricultural Campus Rams 2-1 with scores of 25-21, 20-25, and 25-13.
The second match saw the Tommies struggle early against Saint Mary's University, losing the first set 14-25. The Green and Gold rallied with determined defense to win the next two sets 25-22 and 25-23.
The Tommies' final match was a 2-1 loss against the Holland College Hurricanes. Set scores were 14-25, 18-25, and 25-23.
With a tournament record of two wins and one loss, the Tommies finished tied with Holland College for second place in their division. Saint Mary's finished first in the group, with their only two losses coming at the hands of the Tommies.
