Tommies Drop Pair of Road Games to Hurricanes

The St. Thomas University Tommies women's volleyball team dropped a pair of games to the Holland College Hurricanes this weekend in Charlottetown.

With the losses, the Tommies drop to 6-4 on the season, while the Hurricanes improved to 6-2.

Saturday, January 6

In their first ACAA league match after the break, the Tommies struggled with serving and hitting on route to a 3-0 loss. Set scores were 25-12, 27-29, and 25-20.

Deidra Jones led the Tommies with seven kills and nine digs, while Megan Mills and Hannah Millier chipped in with six kills each. Libero Mija MacDonald had 17 digs in the losing cause.

The Hurricanes were paced by Brittany States, who collected 10 kills and eight digs.

Sunday, January 7

The Tommies dropped a second 3-0 decision to the Hurricanes on Sunday, with set scores of 25-21, 25-15, and 25-16.

Mills sparked the Tommies with six kills, while Jones tallied five kills and seven digs.

Leading the way for the Hurricanes was Megan LeBlanc, who connected for 17 kills. States chipped in with eight kills.

The Tommies are back in action Sunday, January 14 when they host the UNBSJ Seawolves. First serve is at 2:00 pm.
