DeGooyer Adds Left-Side Power to Tommies

The St. Thomas University Tommies women’s volleyball team continue to add to their firepower for the 2019-20 season, with the addition of two-time ACAA All-Star, Jenna DeGooyer.

DeGooyer completed her Business Degree at the University of New Brunswick Saint John, where she suited up for the Seawolves for four years, being named a CCAA National Scholar all four years and a two-time CCAA Academic All-Canadian. She will be studying in the Education program while at St. Thomas.

“I caught the volleyball bug again after taking the majority of the summer off,” said DeGooyer. “I am beyond grateful to be given the opportunity to play for the Tommies. After watching the STU teams from an opponent’s perspective for the last four years I am excited to put my experience and knowledge into their system as we all try to reach the goal of ACAA Champions.”

Head Coach Don McKay is equally excited to have DeGooyer for the upcoming season.

“She’s a tower of power on the left-side,” said McKay. “She brings her tough top spin serve and 6 feet of height to our program. We will be a force as she joins three other ACAA All-Stars from last season (Megan Mills, Hannah Millier and other recent transfer, Brittany States). Our young setters will have plenty of offensive options, and our starting six will be very strong, especially paired with the depth we bring to the table.”

The Tommies will open their regular season on November 3rd when they visit last year’s ACAA Champions, the Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics.
