Tommies this Week

The Tommies have a loaded Wednesday night, featuring the Women's hockey team continuing their playoff hunt at the Grant-Harvey Centre, while a volleyball double-header goes down at the Lady Beaverbrook Gym.

Here is what you need to know about the Tommies this Week.

Wednesday, Jan. 25

Women's Volleyball vs. Holland College Hurricanes 5:00 PM @Lady Beaverbrook Gym

The Tommies look to build off the momentum created after a perfect 3-0 week last week which jumped them into first place in the ACAA standings with a 9-3 record. The Hurricanes, at 7-3, have played the Tommies just once this season back on Oct. 30, where they defeated STU 3-1.

Julia Campbell (Sussex, NB) will be key to the Tommies' offence, having led them all last week.

Women's Hockey vs. Mount Allison University Mounties 7:00 PM @Grant-Harvey Centre

STU's playoff chances hang off a thread, making their week night matchup extremely important. STU sits in seventh in the AUS standings, six points behind the Université de Moncton for the final playoff spot with six games remaining.

The Tommies and Mounties have met three times this season, with the fourth one being the last. STU has won all three, as MTA owns a 2-17-1 record, putting them in last in the AUS.

Men's Volleyball vs. HC Hurricanes 7:00 PM @Lady Beaverbrook Gym

The Tommies hope to remain in first place after their week night matchup with the Hurricanes. The two have split their season series so far, having played each other twice. The Tommies won the first matchup on Oct. 29 in five sets, while Holland won the next day, also in five sets.

The Tommies own a 6-3 record, a game ahead of the 5-4 Hurricanes.

Saturday, Jan. 28

Women's Hockey vs. University of Prince Edward Island 7:00 PM @Grant-Harvey Centre

The Tommies are back at the Grant-Harvey Centre for a Saturday night face-off with the red hot Panthers. Going into their Wednesday game vs. St. FX, UPEI has won seven straight games, securing a spot in the AUS playoffs with their last win. In three matchups with the Panthers this season, the Tommies have gone 1-1-1.

Women's Basketball @ HC Hurricanes 3:00

This will mark the first time the Tommies and Hurricanes have met in regulation play this year - having only met in the Ken Gould Exhibition tournament, the two are in a tight battle for playoff positioning.

The Tommies own a 7-2 record while the Hurricanes are 7-3.

Women's Volleyball @Université Sainte Anee Dragons 6:00 PM

The Dragons will try to get back to their winning ways, having gone only 2-9 this season. The Tommies defeated the Dragons 3-1 on Nov. 19.

Men's Basketball @ HC Hurricanes 3:00 PM

In their first matchup of the regular season, the Tommies face a tough test in the Hurricanes - Holland stands alone at the top of the ACAA standings with an 8-2 record.

The Tommies will also take on a familiar face in Almin Dervisevic who played three seasons with the Tommies. Dervisevic leads the ACAA in assists this season with 4.2 per game.

Men's Volleyball @ USA Dragons 8:00 PM

The Tommies and Dragons will battle it out again, as the tight race for first place in the ACAA continues. The Tommies have gone 2-1 against the Dragons this season.
