Chargers Top Tommies 3-0

MONCTON, NB - The Crandall Chargers shut out the STU Tommies 3-0 to conclude their final home game of the 2022 season.

Amanda Piltzmaker continues to showcase her goal-scoring abilities, finding the net twice in the matchup in the 32' and 45' minutes, respectively.  Piltzmaker is the league-leading scorer with ten goals in as many games.

Laine Bennett scored her first goal of the season, tapping one in as the ball went through traffic. Continuously applying pressure to the defence and goalkeeper, Bennett is making the most of her opportunities as of late.

Maya Clapperton came away with a clean sheet after 90 minutes, turning away all nine shots that made it to the goal.

The Chargers' back line had a solid game with Emilie Arsenault and Simona Romano keeping the STU attackers out of the middle of the field.

With two games left in the season, the Chargers are sitting on the fence of a playoff appearance. STU and Crandall both have 12 points, however, the Tommies still have a game in hand. The Chargers will need to win their remaining matches against UNBSJ and Holland to have their best chances of advancing.

Crandall's next match will be this Saturday as they head to Saint John to face the UNBSJ Seawolves. The last time the teams met saw UNBSJ coming away with a 1-0 victory.
