Hurricanes Storm Past Tommies 96-80

(Fredericton, NB) The Holland College Hurricanes stayed undefeated on the season with a 96-80 victory over the St. Thomas University Tommies on Sunday evening.

The game marked the first time the Hurricanes failed to reach the 100-point mark, a feat they accomplished in every game except two in the 2017-18 season. Jace Colley led the way with 27 points on an efficient 11/18 shooting.

The CCAA's 2nd ranked team jumped out to a 30-14 lead after the first quarter, thanks to 11 points from Colley, last year's ACAA Rookie of the Year.

The Tommies pulled within 11 at half with balanced scoring from everyone. Carlo Theriault (Campbellton, NB) had 9 points at the break.

The Tommies were outscored 47-42 in the second half, but bested the Hurricanes in the 4th quarter, outscoring them 28-10.

Martin Campbell had 18 points to help Holland College.

Theriault finished with 18 to lead the Tommies, while rookies Omer Hassan (London, ON) and Almin Dervisevic (Ottawa, ON) had 15 points each, the latter having a double-double with 10 rebounds as well.

With the win the Hurricanes move to 4-0, while the Tommies fall to 0-4 on the young season.

Holland College will host Dal AC on Saturday, November 17th, while the Tommies will head to UNBSJ on the 18th to face the Seawolves, with both teams searching for their first win.
