Curtis Sinks Tommies in Overtime

Fredericton, NB – The Mount Allison Mounties sank the St. Thomas Tommies 90-88 in overtime, thanks to a Brett Curtis (Harvey, NB) floater with two seconds left.

With seven seconds left in overtime, Curtis drove past Arthur Reece III (Houston, TX) and rattled home a shot that would prove to be the game winner, as Almin Dervisevic (Ottawa, ON) couldn't hit a desperation shot at the buzzer.

Travis Valanne (Miramichi, NB) led the Tommies with a stat line of 22 points on 6-11 shooting from beyond the three-point line, four steals and three blocks. James French (Moncton, NB) had 20 points and 10 rebounds for the Mounties.

The Tommies held a 43-35 edge at halftime but saw that lead slip away in the second half. STU had an opportunity to win the game in the dying seconds of the game, but Dervisevic missed an open look to send the game to overtime, where Curtis would hit the eventual game winner.

The Tommies are on the road to Holland College on Saturday, while the Mounties will host the Crandall Chargers.
