The St. Thomas University Tommies took care of business on home court, handing the UNB Saint John Seawolves a 78-68 loss in the team's annual Think Pink and Grad Game.

With the Tommies in the thick of a playoff fight with the Dal AC Rams for the final playoff spot, this was a huge win for the team.

Prior to the game the Tommies honoured graduating players Travis Valanne (Miramichi, NB), Brandon Seagrave (Moncton, NB) and Justin Grant (Winnipeg, MB), with a special recognition given to Seawolves graduates Steven Ryan (Mount Pearl, NL), Sam Anstey (Saint Andrews, NB) and Matt Brown (Saint John, NB).

The Seawolves were without their dynamic brother duo of Hunter Gray (Woodstock, NB) and Keegan Gray (Woodstock, NB) as both have ailing injuries and the Seawolves having their playoff spot locked up.

With a short bench UNBSJ jumped out to an early first quarter lead of 17-16, led by the hot shooting of first year guard Alex Giesecke (Fredericton, NB) who had 6 to open the quarter. He paired with Jacob Vickers (Lower Derby, NB) to push the Seawolves lead to 37-33 at half, as the duo had 11 and 13 points at half, respectively. Harrison Florean was a first half monster for the Tommies, getting a double-double by halftime, with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Florean finished the game with 22 points, 16 rebounds and 4 blocks.

 "That's what we have been looking for all year long," said head coach Scott MacLeod of his big man. "He had a step-up game for us, wonderful to see."

"Feels really good to get the win," said Florean after the game. "Ever since grade 10 I have always played against Vickers, it's always fun. He always brings out the best in me, and I bring out the best in him. It's one of those matchups I look forward to."

Vickers would also finish the game with a double-double of 20 points and 15 rebounds.

Florean was one of the leading forces in the Tommies second half comeback, along with Michael Otoo (Ottawa, ON) who didn't miss a second half shot, while scoring 10 points for the team.

"We thought we lost him for the season on the weekend, but he got cleared and hit some critical shots for us tonight," said MacLeod of Otoo.

With the Tommies win tonight, they will need some help down the stretch as they will need Dal AC to lose at least one of their final two games of the season for them to have a shot at making the playoffs. Both teams play Saturday, with the Tommies heading to MTA to play the Mounties, and the Rams hosting the UKC Blue Devils.
