Sticking with the Woodstock, NB roots, the Tommies men’s basketball team is pleased to announce the transfer of Hunter Gray from the University of New Brunswick Saint John Seawolves.

Gray, an ACAA All-Star in 2017-18, two-time team MVP for the Seawolves, and the school's Athlete of the Year in 2017-18, brings a rounded game to the Tommies

Hunter was and is an ACAA Allstar. We're getting a very good player. He'll bring that willingness to compete and do whatever it takes to win,” said Tommies’ head coach, John Hickey. “As a 5th year player in our league, Hunter will bring added depth and experience to our group. He can handle the ball in pressure situations, he can shoot it, he rebounds it well, and he can guard multiple positions.”

Gray is coming off a season that saw him average 14.5 points, 6 rebounds and 3.5 assists, while almost helping the Seawolves upset the Tommies in the quarterfinals of this year’s ACAA Championships.

Having played against the Tommies for four years Gray has a certain familiarity with the players and is looking forward to suiting up for the team.

I know Coach Hickey through my brother and his reputation in the basketball community,” said Gray. “I also know Ian [Watters] from playing with him for a few years in Saint John and most of everyone else from playing against them. I’m really looking forward to next season.”

Gray’s on court diversity and flexibility will bring plenty of creative options for the Tommies.

“He's been there, he's competed in close games in the playoffs and has had success in those situations,” added Hickey. “He's one of those guys that are going to force guys to compete every single day and will make his teammates better. He understands that the work that he puts in today will be the difference between winning and losing at the end.
