Tommies Tame Dragons 3-0

Fredericton, NB- In a Sunday matinee game the St. Thomas University Tommies defeated the Universite Sainte-Anne Dragons 3-0 (25-10, 25-13, 25-16).

Much like the Saturday matchup that saw these two teams square off, the Tommies jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

Tommies head coach Henri Mallet had said after Saturday's match that he would have liked to get his middle hitters involved a bit more, and that's exactly what happened in Sunday's game with Garret Dickson and Adam Hamilton connecting with setter Henry Doucet early and often. Saturday saw 9 total attacks from the middle for the Tommies, and they bumped that number to 19 on Sunday.

"We were bale to get our middles rolling, which was something we weren't able to do yesterday," said Mallet following the match. "Both Adam and Garret got rolling throughout the match and they hit really efficiently."

The Dragons again showed some fight in each of the sets, led by veteran outside hitter Anthony Jacques who led the way with a game high 11 kills. Christian Christie would lead the Tommies with 7 kills.

Mallet was pleased with his team on the afternoon.

"It was definitely our best game of our first three this season," said Mallet. "Offensively it was really clean. We had all five hitters be really efficient today, and when we have our five hitters going the way they were today we are dangerous."

Next action for the Tommies will see them visit Holland College on November 23rd, and the Dragons will host the UNBSJ Seawolves that same day.
