Tommies Strengthen Defence with Delorme

The Tommies have made their second recruitment of the 2023 class. Ella Delorme of Aylmer, Quebec has committed to the St. Thomas University Tommies for the 2023-24 season. Delorme, a 5'11" forward, currently attends Heritage College of the RSEQ in Gatineau, Quebec.

After Delorme had contacted Tommies' head coach Fred Connors, sending him game film as well, Connors mentioned the team was in Montreal for a preseason tournament. Delorme and her father went down to watch a game, where the two connected with Connors after the final whistle.

"After about 20 minutes I had committed to St. Thomas," she said.

Connors complimented Delorme's athletic ability, saying she'll fit in right away in the Tommies top defense in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association.

"Ella is a very athletic defender. As a 5'11" wing she can guard all positions and adds length to our aggressive style of defence," Connors said. "She attacks the rim very well and can finish through contact. She is a mature person who is going to make an impact upon her arrival."

Delorme said she wanted to experience the east coast, as well as exploring the different courses at STU.

"I chose STU because I’ve been interested in going away from home for university and a school out east was appealing," she said. "I’ve always preferred going to a school that has smaller class sizes and academics are very important to me and STU values academics. Given all that I just thought it was a great fit and at the moment I am interested in studying either criminology or political science."
