Tommies' head coach Becca Baker has pulled in more Slammin' Salmon from Miramchi pool of talent for the Tommies' 2023-24 campaign. Madelyn Walsh, another product of James M. Hill High School, has comitted to the Tommies. Walsh will join her fellow Miramichi teammate Aurora Sutton, who has also committed to the Tommies' for their upcoming campaign.

Walsh, who says her biggest strength is her work ethic, has incredible agility and "wheels for days," as said by her previous caoch. Walsh attacks the line with speed and power. The James M. Hill High School offensive MVP is expected to make an immediate impact for the Tommies. She said she choose STU because it fills her needs of academics and the option to stay competitive.

“I chose STU because it has everything I need - I rely on sports because that is all I have ever known," Walsh said. "I enjoy the balance of school and sports and without sports I would be lost. Having the option to play sports I love while learning is what I am most excited for.”

She plans on pursuing a Bachelor of Education after her Bachelor of Arts degree.

Baker said the addition of Walsh will help the Tommies right away in the upcoming 2023-24 season.

“Madi will make an immediate impact to our team next year," Baker said. "Although she is a confident backfeilder, Madi has the skill and game knowledge to transition into any position. She will bring a challenge to our opposition next year. We will look to Madi for her speed, powerhouse tackles, and commitment to team culture.”
