Fredericton, NB – The St Thomas University played out a stalemate against University of King's College Blue Devils on a rainy midday game at Grant-Harvey Turf Field.

"It's just that finishing touch that we're missing. We're just missing that little bit of drive towards goal," coach, Michell DeCourcey, said after the game.

The game started brightly for the Tommies as they pushed hard to open the scoring. There were two great chances for them in the first half. The first came from Jessica McWilliams (Tracadie, NB) when he sent her shot just wide, following a corner-kick. Elly Dobson (Summerside, PE) then forced an elastic save from Rebecca Florean.

The Blue Devils fought back in the first half and created some decent chances. Sophie Shepherd (Truro, NS) saw her shot flash across the goal and then Faye Little (Halifax, NS) shot just over the goal. The half ended with both teams trading blows but none proving to be fatal.

In the second half, both teams continued where they left off in the first. Abbey Curwin's looping shot troubled the keeper, with only the crossbar to help her keep the ball out of the net. STU keeper, Laura Nancekievill (Hartland, NB), continued her excellent form by making a number of saves to ensure that the Tommies would come away from the game with a point.

The STU coach was positive about the performance. "I thought it was a better game, the second half showed our will to win and score, we just could finish again today," DeCourcey explained.

The Tommies' next game will be on the road to DAL AC on Saturday. The UKC Blue Devils will be away to MSVU on the same day.
