Danica Godin (Fredericton, NB) has made the decision to join the St. Thomas University women’s volleyball team for the 2019-20 season.

The Ecole Ste. Anne student is a 5’9” middle who plays for the Castors as well as the Fredericton Spartans club team.

“The things I like about Danica are her character, personality and attitude as well as her potential,” said head coach Don McKay. “She moves quickly across the net and jumps well. She is capable of playing more than one position, and I believe she will develop into a very solid ACAA player. I am excited to have her join the Tommies.”

Natasha Dube, coach of both the Spartans and Castors, has coached Godin for two years, and is excited for Godin to take the step to the ACAA.

“I've had the great pleasure of coaching Danica for the last two years,” said Dube. “A dynamic middle hitter that can also play wing, Danica has become a force at the net by being the cornerstone of a very fast offensive system. As a graduating athlete, Danica also provides leadership both on and off the court.”

“I am very excited to study and play volleyball at St. Thomas next year,” said Godin. “When I met with coach Don McKay and was given the opportunity to practice with the team, I really liked the vibe and energy. I’ve heard nothing but good things about the coaching staff, and with them I’m confident that my game will further develop and that I can be a part of the team’s future successes. St Thomas offers a learning environment that’s very appealing to me. As a bonus, I get to play and study at home, which was something I was really hoping to do.”
