Fredericton, NB - The UNB Ironmen used three tries from Matt Ford on their way to a 61-26 victory over the St. Thomas University Tommies.

Kerr Comeau kicked things off for the Ironmen within the first three minutes of the game as he scored the first try of the match, followed quickly by Ford's first try. Logan Crawford, Isaac Arsenault, Jordan Marchand, and Spencer Stanley all scored a try as well, while Caleb Johnstone scored a try and converted on two others.

The Ironmen would jump out to a 41-0 lead at halftime, but the second half was a different ball game for the Tommies. After falling behind 56-0, rookie Hudson Barnaby (Listuguj, QC) would score the first try of the season for the Tommies, before he would quickly touch down another on his way to a three try performance in his first match in the Green and Gold.

"Hudson was a bowling ball any time he touched the ball today, he was making 10 to 20 metres," said Tommies head coach, Matt Coffey. "He really got us going, breaking down the defence."

Connor Burtt (Fredericton, NB) would score the other Tommies try, while Grayson MacPherson (Charlottetown, PE) would convert on three tries, as the Tommies would win the second half 26-20.

"I am incredibly proud of our guys," said Coffey about his team's resiliency. "They stuck with the process. We were battered. We were bruised. We were down a couple guys, and we had to shuffle our deck and our guys did not quit. I am just really proud of the boys right now."

Next game for the Tommies will be October 1st when they are "on the road" to play the Ironmen again.
