Tommies Explode for 7 Goals Versus Chargers

(Fredericton, NB) The St. Thomas University Tommies topped the visiting Crandall University Chargers 7-0 on Wednesday night, getting all seven goals from rookies.  

The Tommies struggled to find their rhythm out of the gate and failed to capitalize within the first minutes of the match.

Brett Springer (Bamberg, ON) was the first one to put the Tommies on track when he scored 30 minutes into the match.

After that goal the Tommies stepped up the pace and Adam Evelyn (Bridgetown, Barbados) scored two goals back to back.

Ending the half with a score of 3-0 over the Chargers.

The Tommies started the second half strong and were quick to capitalize.

Ajay Atkinson (Claredon, Jamaica) scored within the first minutes of the second half putting the Tommies up by four.

Not long after Springer got his second goal of the night.

Evelyn ended the night on a high note with two more back to -back goals.

"It was a good result for us after a heartbreaking loss on Sunday," head coach John-Ryan Morrison said. "It was a good come back today in terms of finding the net."

The Tommies will face off against Mount Saint Vincent University Mystics at 4:15pm on Saturday September 21st, while the Chargers host the Dal AC Rams on Saturday as well.
