It was a record-breaking day for the Tommies at the 2015 Gagetown Indoor Track and Field meet.
 
Jonathan Gionet, a fourth-year thrower from Bathurst, NB, broke the New Brunswick shot put record with a throw of 14.86 meters to claim gold in the event. The former record of 14.85 meters hadn't been beaten in 21 years. 
 
This was also a personal-best performance for Gionet, beating the throw of 14.35 meters that earned him the 2015 Atlantic University Sport title.
 
On the women's side, Sarah Hickman, a first-year runner from Middle Sackville, NS, broke two STU records, finishing first in the 200 meter dash with a time of 29.08 and placing fifth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.66 seconds.
 
Bryden Dunphy and Paul Nozicka showed a glimpse of the rivalry they have set up for this season—Dunphy beat Nozicka by .39 of a second in the 300, while Nozicka beat Dunphy by only .04 of a second in the 600.
 
Tommie event champions for the day included Sarah Hickman (junior girls 200), Shannon Morris (senior girls shot put), Shannon Morris (senior girls weight throw), Bryden Dunphy (junior boys 300), Bryden Dunphy (junior boys 600), and Jonathan Gionet (senior boys shot put).
