SEASON RECAP: Tommies See Growth in 2015-16

The Track and Field Tommies were in a record breaking mood early as Sarah Hickman broke the STU sprint records in November and December, while Jon Gionet was the top ranked shot putter in the AUS for most of the indoor season with his provincial record throw of 15.11 meters.

At the McGill Team Challenge, all of the Tommie throwers had qualified for the AUS Championships. Jonathan Gionet tied his STU record in the shot put with a throw of 15.11 meters. The record breaking continues as Sarah Hickman had broken the STU records for the 60 meters, 200 meters and 300 meters. The men had broken the 4*400 record and the women had broken the 4*200 record.

At the last tune-up meet in Oromocto, Will Leek and Hannah Clarke became the new STU record-holders in the long jump.

At the AUS Championships, both the STU women and men finished ahead of Memorial University in the team rankings. The STU women were only one point behind St. Mary's and the men were only one point behind Acadia. Jon Gionet won a silver medal for STU in the shot put, while Shannon Blackmore, Shannon Morris, and Hannah Clarke also scored points for STU as individuals. Five STU women finished in the top 10 in the weight throw.
