SEASON RECAP: Tommies Complete Another Sucessful Campaign

The men's volleyball team at St. Thomas University had another successful season, capturing their third consecutive Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association title and representing the conference at the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association national championships.

In the increasingly competitive ACAA conference, the Tommies opened the 2015-16 campaign with three straight wins before falling to the much-improved Holland College Hurricanes and the UNB Saint John Seawolves. After the first semester, the Tommies held a 4-2 record, putting them in a three-way tie for first place.

The Tommies found more success in the second half, dropping only three of their nine matches en route to a second place finish in the conference standings.

At the ACAA championships, the Tommies faced the Hurricanes in the semifinals and cruised to a 3-0 victory. The conference final was a different story—a thrilling battle that saw the Tommies trade wins with the Seawolves before clinching the title with a 15-9 victory in the fifth set.

At the CCAA national championships the Tommies were swept in all three games, but were awarded the tournament Fair Play Award.

Marc Blinn was named the ACAA Player of the Year as well as a CCAA All-Canadian, while Stephane Blinn and Nicolas Levesque were recognized as ACAA all-conference players.
