Men's Rugby 2014-15 Award Winners

Men's Rugby 2014-15 Award Winners

Congratulations to this year's award winners:

Rookie of the year – Lyndon Pugh

Lyndon arrived on campus from Miramichi, NB.  This first-year player came out of high school raw but willing to work and learn the ins and outs of rugby. His size, strength, and natural athleticism were crucial to team success. If his growth as a rugby player continues through the next three years he will most certainly make a mark in maritime rugby circles.

Outstanding Backfielder – Austin Comeau
Austin is in his second year from Burton, NB.  Perhaps the most feared ball carrier in Maritime University rugby, this player has added a level of rugby smarts and versatility to his game that you are not likely to find elsewhere.

Outstanding Forward – Justin Robar
Justin is in his second year from Geary, NB. This player is fearless, tireless, and what we like to call a ruck donkey. His incredible work rate and physical presence make him a threat on both sides of the ball. His impact on the league as a rookie has been impossible to miss.

Most Valuable Player - Johnny Cullen
Johnny is a third-year player from Hampton, NB, who took on a major leadership role with the club since his first day three years ago. His work ethic on game days and on the training pitch have paid dividends for him at the club level and have had him recognized as one of the premier players in Atlantic Canada. He's scored countless important tries, put up many of our team's points through the boot, and is often identified by opposition and fans as one of the most creative, intelligent and athletic rugby players in our league.
