Tommies Golf Finds Permanent Home Through Partnership with West Hills Golf Course

The golf team at St. Thomas University is pleased to announce a new partnership with West Hills Golf Course beginning this fall.

After struggling to find consistent playing and practice time, the Tommies golf team finally has a course to call home.

"Mactaquac Golf Course and the Fredericton Golf Club have been good to us for the last few years, but West Hills is an opportunity to take our program to the next level," Tommies head coach Ed Jeffrey said.

West Hills is located on Fredericton's North Side in the West Hills Residential Community. Currently with nine holes open, the Huxham designed course will feature a challenging 18-hole, par 72 course by 2018.

West Hills will also offer an elaborate practice facility with real target greens as well as practice chipping and putting greens.

West Hills General Manager Jeff Magnussen said he's happy to have established a partnership with the Tommies.

"Hill Bros. and West Hills are very pleased to have a new working arrangement with STU. We see it as a partnership that will benefit both the course and the university," he said.

The Tommies compete in the Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Association and have attended the last two National Championships. Team tryouts are scheduled at West Hills on Saturday, September 12  at 3:00 pm and Sunday, September 13 at 12:00 pm.
