Tommies This Week: January 10-16

Friday, January 12

Women’s Hockey vs StFX 7:00pm @ Grant-Harvey Center

The Tommies have opened up a seven-point lead over second place StFX in the AUS standings during their current 12-game winning streak. The X-Women will look to rebound following a 4-0 loss to UdeM in their last game. The previous game between these two nationally ranked teams saw the Tommies win it in a thrilling shootout, 2-1.

 

Saturday, January 13

Men’s and Women’s Track @ Moncton Open Meet

The Tommies track teams will travel to Moncton for an open meet. Earlier this season the Tommies broke two school records, and they will look to improve upon those marks as they continue to prepare for AUS Championships.

Women’s Volleyball vs MSVU 2:00pm @ LB Gym

The Mystics come to town undefeated on the season with a 10-0 record. The Tommies sit at 4-7 on the season and will look to hand the Mystics their first defeat of the season.

Women’s Basketball vs MSVU 4:00pm @ LB Gym

The Tommies (7-2) sit right behind the Mystics (8-0) in the ACAA standings and will look to avenge a 26-point defeat in their home opener at the hands of MSVU. The Mystics are ranked #3 in the country, while the Tommies come in at #9.

Men’s Basketball vs MSVU 6:00pm @LB Gym

The holiday break couldn’t have come at a worse time for the Tommies, as they went into the break having their best four game stretch and winning two in a row. They will host the Mystics who are 6-2 on the season, and currently second in the ACAA.

 

Sunday, January 14

Women’s Volleyball vs UKC 11:00am @LB Gym

The Tommies find themselves right behind the Blue Devils in the ACAA standings and could potentially leap frog them with a win. The teams have traded wins so far this season.

Women’s Basketball vs UKC 1:00pm @LB Gym

The last time these two teams faced off, the Tommies squeaked out a 56-54 victory with the Blue Devils missing a last-minute shot to tie the game. If that first game is any indication, the fans at “The Pit” will be in for a treat.

Men’s Basketball vs UKC 3:00pm @LB Gym

It was their previous game against the Blue Devils that got the Tommies rolling. They held a lead into the 4th quarter before it slipped away. That jump started a solid stretch of basketball before the holiday break. The Tommies will need to shut down the Colpitts twins, who combined for 15 points in the 4th quarter comeback.

 

Wednesday, January 16

Women’s Volleyball vs UNBSJ 6:00pm @LB Gym

The Seawolves have taken both of the first two matchups 3-0, but the Tommies have been playing a more consistent brand of volleyball of late and will look to defend home court against their Highway 7 rival.

Men’s Volleyball vs UNBSJ 8:00pm @LB Gym

The Seawolves have been the only team close to handing the Tommies their first loss of the season. The last time these two played at “The Pit” the Tommies came away with a 3-2 victory. Ranked #10 in the country, the Tommies will look to continue their win streak.
